Do You Know Who You Are? A Woman of Purpose—That’s Who!
For a very long time, I could not answer that question. I had no clue that I even had a purpose. All I knew was that I was living a very unfulfilled life for most of my life. Not knowing who I was in Christ played a major role in me not knowing my worth, my value & always settling for less than what I deserved, but because my relationship with God wasn’t where it should have been at that time, I assumed that was what I deserved.
You see, God has a way of showing you exactly who He is to get you exactly where He needs you to be for Him. Discovering my purpose, the purpose that God has me walking in was not discovered until recently. When I say recently, I mean at least 3 years ago. I may have known it sooner, but I had not truly tapped into all that God needed me to do because I was still trying to do things my way.
You see, the Bible says in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you & not harm you, plans to give you hope & a future”. God had our purpose planned out from birth. It clearly states that in Colossians 1:16, which states, “Everything got started in Him and finds its purpose in Him”.
It wasn’t until I completely surrendered everything to God, and got out of His way so He could have His way in me completely; that’s when I discovered my purpose. That’s when the veil was removed from my eyes; that’s when everything started making sense. I became still so that I could hear from God. I no longer tried to do things on my own because it was then that I knew that my purpose was connected to those God called me to serve.
I used to think that because I’m now in my mid 40’s & just really starting to live my life & walk in my purpose, I wasted so much time; but I had to remind myself of God’s promise when He said that He would restore the years that the locusts have eaten. Discovering your purpose & walking it out completely can only come from God. You have to be still & listen to what He is trying to tell you & most importantly, spend time with Him & His word building that close intimate relationship with Him. Remember, a God-given purpose can be accomplished only through His guidance & strength.
